Breaking Records for the Off-Broadway 'Smashed' Hit: Drunk Shakespeare

As the Director of Marketing for Brass Jar Productions – the production company behind the ‘smashed’ off-Broadway hit, Drunk Shakespeare – I lead the theatre’s marketing efforts across multiple regions and media markets (Brass Jar owns and operates theaters in 5 cities across the United States), and create a consistent base of repeat and first-time patrons. 

Key Impacts

Growth: Tasked with growing the company, I increased average ticket sales by 300% after implementing a strategic focus on branding, targeted marketing, and reseller partnerships. I conceptualized and oversaw the marketing and development process for the opening of The Ruby Theatre in Times Square – the first new off-Broadway venue in over 10 years – to finally give the decade-running show a permanent home in NYC. I did the same with The Emerald Theatre, Brass Jar’s newest custom-built venue in Houston, Texas.

Advertising: I oversaw, profitably grew, and directly managed an annual advertising budget of $3M+ with an average ROI of 50%. Despite running since 2014, Drunk Shakespeare is enjoying record-breaking sales due to these efforts.

Sustainability: Reacting to record-breaking growth, I implemented organizational systems to sustain profitable advertising and ticket sale demand. In addition, I hired, developed, and oversaw the marketing team, in addition to other vital roles such as the Company Manager, Box Office Manager, and local venue managers.

Building a world-class marketing department within a full-stack agency

As the Director of Marketing for TangoSquared – a digital marketing and design agency – I led the marketing team and consistently exceeded ROI and sales targets for clients in a multitude of industries, including SaaS, Healthcare, Education, and Retail.

Key Impacts

Expansion: Tasked with building TangoSquared’s marketing department from the ground up, I oversaw a team of 8 full-time employees and improved overall client satisfaction by 80%, while increasing revenue from marketing services rendered by 200%. 

Data Management: By building a culture of robust data management, campaign testing, and continuous optimization, campaign performance improved across all clients by an average of 55%.

As the Marketing Manager for Entrada Piano – a startup educational program led by world-renowned pianist Fred Karpoff – I grew the company’s user base from 50 people to over 400, while continually expanding and improving marketing efforts across all channels.

Key Impacts

SEO: By completely rewriting and redesigning the entire site with a topic and keyword focus in mind, adding a regularly updated blog offering, and ensuring proper back-end practices, SEO performance increased by 68%.

Conversions: By implementing a free trial – supported by appropriate email and retargeting strategies – conversions jumped by 200% with a 70% post-trial retention rate. 

Email: Encapsulating a complete redesign of email automation structure, new copy guidelines, and retargeting efforts, my email marketing plan led to a 90% increase in email driven conversions.

Community-focused marketing to transform a non-profit arts company.

As the Marketing Manager for Harbor Stage – a non-profit community theatre company – I engaged in grassroots, community-focused marketing tactics that built brand-loyal audiences, consistently sold out shows, and drove a constant flow of engaged donors.

Key Impacts

Rebrand: By spearheading a total rebrand of the company, Harbor Stage saw a 125% increase in brand engagement and a 150% increase in average ticket sales over the proceeding 6 months.

ROI: After implementing real-time campaign management and ongoing budget/strategy adjustments, average ROI increased by 32%.
